About Us

Meet Louise

Meadow Creative Therapies is led by Louise Parker, a creative arts and play therapist with a strong background in psychology, education, and mental health. Louise brings together over two decades of experience working with children, young people, adults, families, schools, and organisations, offering therapeutic support that is both compassionate and grounded in evidence-based practice.

At the heart of Louise’s work is a belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, and understood — especially during times of emotional difficulty. Her approach is relational, flexible, and creative, adapting to each individual rather than expecting clients to fit a particular model of therapy.

Professional Background

Louise holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society, alongside a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training. She is a qualified Therapeutic Play Practitioner and is currently completing her Play Therapy training with Play Therapy UK to become a Play Therapist.

Alongside her therapeutic training, Louise has spent many years working within Educational Psychology Services, supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs, including special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), trauma, and behavioural difficulties. Her roles have included Assistant and Associate Senior Assistant Educational Psychologist positions within local authorities and independent services, as well as her current role within alternative provision.

This experience means Louise brings a deep understanding of child development, learning, emotional wellbeing, and systems around the child — including schools, families, and multi-agency teams.

Therapeutic Approach

Louise offers a creative, integrative approach to therapy, drawing on a range of modalities to meet clients where they are. This includes:

  • Therapeutic Play, allowing children to express themselves safely through play
  • Drawing and Talking® therapy for children, adolescents, and adults

  • CBT-informed talking therapy for adolescents and adults

  • SandStory Skills® and symbolic storytelling approaches

Sessions are always tailored to the individual, recognising that not everyone finds it easy to talk and that creativity can offer a powerful alternative way to process thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Experience Across the Lifespan

Louise has worked with clients from early childhood through to adulthood, in a variety of settings including schools, alternative provision, colleges, community services, and private practice. She has supported individuals experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem, neurodiversity, learning differences, brain injury and significant life transitions.

Her work is informed not only by therapy training but also by extensive experience in teaching, tutoring, pastoral support, and mental health care, allowing her to take a truly holistic view of wellbeing.

Training, Consultancy, and Professional Support

In addition to direct therapeutic work, Louise offers training and consultancy services for:

  • Schools and educational settings

  • Parents and carers

  • Professionals working with children and young people

  • Businesses seeking wellbeing-focused support

Louise has designed and delivered training on a wide range of topics, including emotional wellbeing, SEND, autism and ADHD pathways, mental health awareness, and supporting vulnerable learners. Her training style is practical, reflective, and grounded in real-world experience.

Professional Standards and Ethics

Louise is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society, a Trainee Play Therapist with Play Therapy UK, and is registered with the ICO for GDPR compliance. She works ethically, reflectively, and within professional guidelines, with safeguarding and wellbeing always at the forefront of her practice. She holds an Enhanced DBS and is fully insured.
